![]() ![]() The Move Indicator is definitely more of a DVD compass-style thing in the bottom center of the screen, and it is unfortunate that it's onscreen (mostly transparent) at all times, instead of just blinking on for a move like the old indicators (bars on the four sides of the screen and a sword icon in the center). Game speed seemed about the same as before. (Keyboard still required for inputting your high score, so I'd still call this "Partial Controller Support" (which it is listed as on the Store page.)) All the sound effects and vocalizations are an unexpected highlight! Does Dirk remind anyone else of Homer Simpson? A friend of mine (80s kid) was very disappointed when it wasn't included in my MAME install about twelve years ago, and that's what made me particularly curious about the game. I'm glad to finally own a copy of this and to be able to play it on my computer without spending quarters. Their comments affect purchasing decisions so make them happy with the new version (that I'm sure has a lot of good work put into it already), and hopefully you'll have more *new* die-hard fans!Īs a first time player, I've been grinning like an idiot the whole time I've been playing, even through my many many many many deaths! And please listen to the die-hard fans on this forum. If I've skimmed the release notes correctly, controller support was one of the things added to the newer version.įor the devs/publisher: thank you for having a decent discount on the game, although I would like to see it in additional storefronts (I know GamersGate has it, but I don't think that includes a Steam key), and a Steam BUNDLE (capital letters) with all three games would be nice. Also, my controller doesn't seem to be usable here, so I'm just on keyboard. I'll be trying the newer version soon to see how it compares, and hopefully I'll find that most of the complaints are blown out of proportion.Īt least some of the achievements seem to be popping (I'm afraid I was just a smidge too late to check the "Date with Daphne" achievement), but the Steam overlay doesn't work, and so I don't see the achievements until I'm out of the game. I'd read way too many complaints on this forum about the "updated" version and would have held off any purchase of this if I couldn't play the older version which had all the positive Steam reviews and comments on the forum. I've never actually played Dragon's Lair, though I *think* I saw it in the arcades briefly (I'm a 90s kid, coming in just after Raiden and Qbert Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat dominated, alongside Time Crisis, X-Men, Area-51, and later Top Skater, Jurassic Park, and DDR). This worked great, apart from missing the (somewhat obvious) instruction of having to install the current version of the game first To the devs - I know you're doing what you can, but please include the ability to launch previous builds of the Steam version through the launcher - it's possible to do and would satisfy nearly everyone regarding this issue. ![]() I own the early DVD release and have used Daphne, the only reason I was interested in this version was for the onscreen prompts and better visual quality. I've tried this on a few different systems now (including a Windows 10 tablet) and the performance is inconsistent with the changes in hardware. The older version works wonderfully on Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.10.5, while the current build gave me choppy video playback and unresponsive (or just mistimed) input. After rolling back I'm really confused by the changes - I can understand why you would adjust certain things for mobile compatibility, but to use that as a base for the Windows 10 port seems like a misstep. Thanks for posting this, I was extremely disappointed when I bought this and it was nothing like the port I'd seen people play. ![]()
